Employment & the Workplace in a Post-Pandemic World
In this latest legal podcast Lamb McErlane PC partners Jim Sargent and Guy Donatelli discuss a post-pandemic world, and specifically, about how basic concepts of employment already have changed and may change in the future.
For some, in jobs that require hands on skilled work––carpenters, plumbers, mechanics, people in retail sales or in cleaning and maintenance work, and all manners of healthcare––employment really has not changed (although perhaps interrupted, and although subject to social distancing and other safety measures.)
But for traditional office jobs, service work, in banking, accounting, tax, etc., remote work / working at home has been the norm and may continue over the next six months, or permanently.
For office workers, in particularly, there may be new standards for performance and accountability––it may be a lot easier to track productivity via keystrokes on a remote computer, or when employee conferences via Zoom can be easily monitored by the boss…listen in to hear more….
