Litigation Paralegal
Lamb McErlane PC is looking to add an experienced Litigation Paralegal to our Market Street location. Experience in Appellate work is a plus. This position works closely with several attorneys in the Litigation department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Case Administration – including file organization and administration for database construction and management.
- Pre–Trial and Post–Trial Pleading and Motions – including drafting and editing pleadings. Includes reviewing and answering complaints, counterclaims, and third-party complaints, motions to dismiss or strike jurisdictional motions, and research for pleadings.
- Written Discovery/Interrogatories – including developing, responding, or objecting to interrogatories or requests to admit and summarizing interrogatories and admissions received.
- Discovery Document Production – including developing, responding, objecting to, and negotiating document requests. Includes identifying and reviewing documents for production, identifying and reviewing documents for privilege, preparing and drafting requests to produce, preparing and drafting responses for requests to produce, preparing and drafting notices of nonparty production (NNP), preparing and drafting subpoena and authorization, obtaining non-subpoenaed documents (i.e., tax returns, work comp, disability, court files), and reviewing summarizing subpoenaed documents.
- e-Discovery Production – familiarity with the Logikcull or similar e-discovery program preferred.
- Discovery Depositions – including preparing deposition notices and subpoenas, communicating with opposing and other party’s counsel on scheduling and logistics, planning and preparing to take the deposition.
- Expert Discovery – including preparing expert discovery notices, and communicating with experts on scheduling and logistics.
- E-filing (or paper filing as required) with all court systems – local, state, and federal.
- Experience with handling tax appeals for local municipalities and/or school districts is strongly preferred.
Basic Competencies:
- Exhibits a service mentality with clients and co-workers. Responds promptly to attorney and client needs. Responds to requests for service and assistance, and meets commitments and deadlines.
- Oral Communication. Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listens and gets clarification, responds well to questions, and participates in meetings.
- Written Communication. Writes clearly and informatively, edits work for spelling and grammar. Presents numerical data effectively, and can read and interpret written information.
- Able to work with little supervision. Can effectively prioritize and handle multiple priorities. Anticipates work needs, and works well under occasional periods of pressure and short deadlines.
- Maintains client and firm confidentiality at all times; understands and implements general rules of ethical behavior applicable to lawyers.
- Computer Skills. Has strong knowledge of computer operation, internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software. Proficiency with Microsoft products is required. Experience with Logikcull (or similar e-discovery software) is strongly preferred. Has strong typing skills and can operate office equipment.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in paralegal or legal studies or paralegal certificate required.
- Minimum of 4 years experience as a litigation paralegal required.

The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break (35 hours per week). Occasional extra hours may be required based on deadlines. This is a non-exempt position. Straight time will be paid for all hours worked up to 40 hours per week. Hours worked over 40 will be paid at time and a half.
This is not a remote or hybrid position. Candidates will be working in person in our West Chester office location and must live within a 30-minute commute. 24 East Market Street, West Chester, PA.

Job Overview:
Busy Family Law Practice of a large collegial Chester County Firm, is seeking an experienced Attorney to assist with current high volume case load. Areas of law include Child Custody, Divorce, Equitable Distribution, Support, Adoptions, Pre-Nuptial Agreements / Post-Nuptial Agreements, and Protection Orders from Abuse.
You will have the opportunity to provide prompt and effective representation to clients, both individually and as a part of a team. You will be responsible for billing clients for your services provided in each case. You will be expected to provide case status to firm partners, as needed. You will make court appearances on a regular basis.
Qualifications:
- Must have a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar
- 5+ years minimum experience practicing as a Family Law Attorney is preferred
- Experience drafting motions, pleadings, briefs, etc.
- Ability to handle a high-volume case load
- Willingness to work as part of a team
