Lamb McErlane PC Partner James (Jim) Sargent was a Course Planner for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s (PBI) program on Advanced Appellate Advocacy, Presenting Complex Appeals in the PA Courts, on June 13, 2023.

The program included a panel of experienced appellate attorneys comprised of course planners Rob Byer–Duane Morris LLP (Pittsburgh) and Kim Watterson–Reed Smith, (Pittsburgh) and Jim Sargent, as well as an illustrious and informative judicial panel comprised of Hon. Justice David N. Wecht–Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Hon. Victor P. Stabile–Superior Court of Pennsylvania and Hon. Ellen H. Ceisler–Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania.  This well-attended program provided a unique opportunity to hear commentary on best practices from the bench and seasoned appellate attorneys including discussions of issue preservation, perfecting appeal, the benefits of skilled brief writing, assembling and presenting the appellate record, approaches to argument, and post-submission procedures.

At Lamb McErlane Jim is Co-Chair with Maureen M. McBride of Lamb McErlane’s Appellate Advocacy Group and he is Chair of the Firm Litigation Department, both of which are comprised of many experienced and knowledgeable attorneys. Jim has represented major national and multinational manufacturers in litigation and appeals involving class actions, product liability, taxation, warranty, fraud, employment, medical malpractice and consumer protection law claims. Jim also offers mediation services in commercial, construction and business ownership disputes.
