Lamb McErlane Partner Vince Pompo presents at seminars on Pipeline Regulation and Safety in Pennsylvania
Vince Pompo, partner and chairman of Lamb McErlane PC’s municipal and environmental law department in West Chester, PA, was a presenter at the Municipal Law Section Meeting at the Chester County Bar Association (CCBA) on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 and at the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. The topic for the meetings was Pipeline Regulation and Safety.
The presentations provided an overview of model ordinances and recommendations, as well as discussing pipeline regulation in Pennsylvania and how it affects our communities. The following will also be addressed:
- Act 13 of 2012, which enacted stronger environmental standards, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s recent decision overturning parts of Act 13, a move towards energy independence in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as alternative gas development continues, protection of the water supplies and uniform and consistent statewide environmental standards.
- Natural Gas Companies’ Federal condemnation proceedings under the Natural Gas Act (15 USC § 717 et seq) and Declaration of Taking Act (40 USC § 3114; State condemnation proceedings under the Pa Eminent Domain Code) and “quick take” condemnations under §1511(g)(2) of the Business Corporation Law; challenges to such proceedings; and recent cases.
At Lamb McErlane, Vince is chairman of the municipal law department and environmental law practice group and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. His practice areas include municipal, land use and environmental law. He is the Township Solicitor for numerous Pennsylvania townships and acts as Solicitor for multiple municipal authorities. Vince spearheaded the acclaimed open space program in East Bradford Township, PA, serving as the first chairman of the Open Space Review Board, and continues to counsel municipalities and conservation organizations on open space acquisitions. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Lundale Farm, Inc.
