Lamb McErlane Health Law Chair Vasilios J. ‘Bill’ Kalogredis was a panelist and attorney Sonal Parekh was a moderator for the American Bar Association Health Law Section’s webinar, “Medical Terminology New Health Law Attorneys Need to Know”, on March 5, 2024. There were over 300 attendees at the webinar.

The Young Lawyers Division (YLD) leaders Sonal Parekh and Shivani Thakker, JD MPH, moderated the webinar while expert panelists Vasilios Kalogredis, Anthony Longo, and Katelyn Hinz discussed the importance of knowing and understanding medical terminology as a young health law attorney. During the program health law lawyers covered the key medical language that healthcare attorneys will come across early in their practice and what they should be familiar with. The program explored facilitating accurate communication in legal contexts, enhancing legal effectiveness and precision, bridging the gap between medical jargon and legal proceedings, understanding and using the proper legal terminology in legal documents, and ensuring clarity and understanding for all parties involved.

Mr. Kalogredis specifically discussed transactional terms for young lawyers to know in health law. He explained the corporate practice of medicine doctrine, restrictive covenants; non-competes and non-solicitation, as well as confidential information, indemnification, common type of agreements, and malpractice insurance.

As a moderator, Ms. Parekh provided a brief overview, introduced speakers, and facilitated a general discussion by the audience and speakers through a Q&A session.

Vasilios J.
