PA Senate Passes HB 380- Which Reduces the Statutory Waiting Period for a Unilateral No Fault Divorce from 2 years to 1 year

On September 26, 2016, the Pennsylvania Senate passed House Bill 380, which reduces the statutory waiting period for a unilateral no fault divorce from two years to one year.  The bill had passed the House in the spring.  PA Governor Wolf is expected to sign the bill in the next few days.  Advocates of the bill, including the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Family Law Section, consider this to be a victory for children in Pennsylvania in that one party to a divorce can no longer drag out the process for selfish reasons and allows the post-divorce healing process to start that much faster.
