Lamb McErlane PC Paralegals Pat Klim and Amy McCall Pro Bono Volunteers with the Mobile Home Tax Appeal Pilot Program

Lamb McErlane PC paralegals Pat Klim and Amy McCall joined other volunteers in 2019 as Legal Aid of Southeastern PA (LASP) took part in  the Mobile Home Tax Appeal Pilot Program in partnership with United Way of Chester County, the Lord’s Pantry, and the Honey Brook Food Pantry. The mission of the program is to assist mobile home owners appeal their property taxes on their overvalued homes. The Chester County Paralegal Association (CCPA) staffed many of the outreaches with paralegals to assist clients in the Chester County area.

Unlike houses built on land mobile homes do not appreciate in value, they depreciate in value every year. Unless a mobile home owner appeals the home’s assessed value, it will be taxed as if it is increasing in value over time.   Because of the assistance of the paralegals, including Lamb McErlane PC paralegals Pat Klim and Amy McCall, the project successfully appealed 177 mobile home tax assessments.  The program’s goal is to assist 1,000 occupant-owned mobile homes within the next year.
