Lamb McErlane PC Attorney Joel L. Frank Nominated to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission

Joel L. Frank, Esquire, Managing Partner and Executive Committee Chairman of Lamb McErlane PC, a full service law firm headquartered in West Chester, PA, has been nominated by Governor Tom Corbett to serve as a Commissioner on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission has three members that are appointed by the Governor for four year terms. Nominees require confirmation by the Pennsylvania Senate. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission was established by the General Assembly to regulate professional boxing, kickboxing, professional wrestling and mixed martial arts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Pennsylvania continues to be one of the most active states for professional boxing and mixed martial arts. The Commission licenses over 1,400 professionals, including boxers, kickboxers, boxing and wrestling promoters, managers, doctors, trainers, announcers, timekeepers, referees and athletic agents.

Mr. Frank has been actively involved in Martial Arts for over twenty years both as a practitioner and instructor, holding black belts in two separate disciplines. Mr. Frank is also active in a variety of regional organizations including the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry (Chair-Elect), Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (Board Director), the Chester County Chiefs of Police Association (Solicitor) and the Republican Committee of Chester County (Solicitor). He has also served on Pennsylvania’s Federal Judicial Nominating Commission for U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

“I very much appreciate Governor Corbett nominating me to serve on the State Athletic Commission”, says Frank. “I am passionate about the activities the Commission oversees and I hope to be confirmed by the Senate when it reconvenes. I am anxious to get started.”

At Lamb McErlane Mr. Frank concentrates his practice in commercial and civil litigation in state and federal courts. He is rated “AV Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell and since 2005 annually has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer for general litigation. A Super Lawyer is an annual recognition obtained by only 5% of Pennsylvania’s attorneys. Mr. Frank has also regularly been named a Top Lawyer in Main Line Today magazine. He received his JD from Widener University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware.
