Position: Legal Secretary/Assistant

Lamb McErlane PC is currently seeking a Legal Secretary/Assistant for our Newtown Square, PA office. This position will provide administrative support to the attorneys located in this office. 5 years of previous experience as a legal secretary/assistant is required.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Typing, editing, and compiling legal documents, correspondence, etc.
  • Reviewing documents for formatting, grammar, etc.
  • Transcribing handwritten documents.
  • Preparing documents and filing with various courts, including multiple county e-filing systems.
  • Setting up new matters according to Firm procedures.
  • Organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files.
  • Entering attorneys’ time in our billing software program and following up and assisting with the review and approval of draft bills.
  • Managing and maintaining attorneys’ calendars as required, including scheduling meetings, reserving conference rooms, etc.
  • Receptionist duties such as greeting clients and vendors, answering phones, transferring calls, and following up as required. Receptionist duties are shared between the support staff in the office.
  • Dealing with clients in person, by phone, and through correspondence in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Collaborating with and supporting the other Newtown Square office team members and interacting with attorneys and support staff in the Firm’s headquarters and other satellite offices.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in a legal office is required.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of programs is required.
  • Experience with Tabs3 is a plus.
  • Familiarity with standard office equipment – scanning, copying, faxing, etc. – is required.
  • Effective communication skills with attorneys, co-workers, and clients – both verbal and written – are required.
  • Vested in building strong client relations, including maintaining strict confidentiality regarding all firm business.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and communicate progress to attorneys involved.
  • Dependable – with a good work ethic and “can do” attitude.
  • Be located within a 30-minute commute distance of Newtown Square, PA.

Work schedule is Monday thru Friday, 9 am to 5 pm with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break (35 hours per week). This is not a hybrid or remote position. Full-time presence in the office is required.

Position: Family Law Attorney

Job Overview:

Lamb McErlane’s busy Family Law Practice is seeking an experienced Attorney to assist with current high-volume case load. Areas of law include Child Custody, Divorce, Equitable Distribution, Support, Adoptions, Pre-Nuptial Agreements / Post-Nuptial Agreements, and Protection Orders from Abuse.

You will have the opportunity to provide prompt and effective representation to clients, both individually and as a part of a team. You will be responsible for billing clients for your services provided in each case. You will be expected to provide case status to firm partners as needed. You will make court appearances on a regular basis.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar
  • 4 – 8 years minimum experience practicing as a Family Law Attorney is preferred
  • Experience drafting motions, pleadings, briefs, etc.
  • Ability to handle a high-volume case load
  • Willingness to work as part of a team
