Pennsylvania’s Problem Solving Courts Changing the Lives of Non-Violent Offenders
In December 2016 Pennsylvania’s problem-solving courts, which includes veterans courts, adult and juvenile drug courts, DUI courts and mental health courts are offering an alternative to non-violent offenders. These courts are averting non-violent offenders from going to jail if they fulfill treatment and program requirements.
There are currently 104 problem solving courts in Pennsylvania and the program has sent approximately 2,600 individuals to different programs.
According to the Pennsylvania Drug and Alcohol Annual Plan and Report, 86% of people completing treatment go on to live crime-free lives. For more information and to view the full article click here.
