PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Sara first became interested in family law when she worked as a social worker for a women’s advocacy center. As a social worker, she assisted women who were experiencing intimate partner violence with safety planning, obtaining protection from abuse orders, and initiating divorce or custody proceedings. Following this experience, she worked for several years as an advocate with a specialized victim unit for the prosecuting attorney, assisting victims of domestic and sexual violence through the criminal justice system.
Sara’s passion for public service and social justice eventually led her to law school where she worked as a full-time legal extern for another women’s advocacy center, representing women who were experiencing intimate partner violence in family court.

Prior to joining the firm Sara proudly served as a child advocate attorney, defending the rights of children who were experiencing abuse and neglect. You will often hear Sara say that there is no more rewarding role than advocating for or defending a child. She is truly grateful for the years she spent serving this vulnerable population.

EDUCATION / ADMISSIONS:

  • Bellevue University, BS, 2003
  • Gonzaga University School of Law, JD, 2017

PERSONAL BACKGROUND:

Sara grew up in a small town in Nebraska. She was raised by hard-working, blue-collar parents who taught her that life isn’t fair, everyone has their own story to tell, and if you want something you need to work for it. Sara’s family was beautifully created through adoption, and she is proud of her roots.

Sara became a mother for the first time as a very young woman and raised a daughter as a single parent for eleven years. When she married her husband, a United States Air Force Officer, they worked hard to gracefully navigate the challenges of a blended family. Eventually they welcomed two more children to their family while the USAF moved them four times in eight years. The frequent moves instilled a spirit of adventure for Sara’s family and they enjoy visiting new places as often as they can.

Sara’s personal experience with adoption, custody, step-parenting and military families along with her professional experience make her a skilled and compassionate advocate. She understands what is at stake and will work tirelessly for you and partner with you to preserve and protect what matters most.

In her free time Sara enjoys spending time with her friends and family, hiking, reading, and traveling.
