David J. MacMain
David is a partner and litigator with broad and extensive trial experience having tried over seventy-five (75) cases to verdict in favor of his clients. David's practice emphasizes matters in civil rights, employment, professional defense and municipal law. David is responsible for the firm's defense and management of civil rights and municipal tort cases for public entities and officials throughout Pennsylvania, in a wide variety of civil rights and employment claims including police misconduct, zoning/land use, sexual harassment, discrimination, licensing, First Amendment, prison-based and work-place claims. David has litigated civil rights and municipal liability cases throughout the country and is frequently retained as a consultant or lead trial counsel in high-profile cases. He also serves as counsel to law enforcement agencies on police-related issues including the review and preparation of policies such as high-speed pursuit and use of force.
David is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey where he was selected as the class speaker for the 60th Pennsylvania State Police Cadet Class. Prior to his legal career, David was a Pennsylvania State Trooper stationed at the Avondale, Chester County Barracks.
Mr. MacMain is a member of the Defense Research Institute and an active participant in the Civil Rights and Government Liability Committee, and Trial Tactics Committee and has been a featured speaker at various national DRI conferences. David has been named a "Pennsylvania Super Lawyer" multiple times in the field of Civil Rights as selected by an anonymous survey of lawyers and judges statewide, representing the top five percent of all lawyers in Pennsylvania. David is rated "AV" Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.
David is a frequent speaker on civil rights, municipal liability, employment litigation, police and prison-related issues, zoning and land use, trial skills, and ethics to a variety of audiences, both locally and nationally, including public officials, lawyers and solicitors, and insurance professionals. The Pennsylvania League of Cities and Municipalities, the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Commissioners, the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Defense Research Institute have invited David as a guest speaker.
